Description
A swarm of geometry. Handcrafted in Ireland by Ruth at DANU Ceramics, these hoop earrings pair a suspended ceramic hexagon with a tiny brass bee charm—each element swinging independently, catching light and attention with every turn. Finished with a luminous 24-carat gold accent, they are minimalist, whimsical, and unmistakably artisanal.
The hexagon is the language of the hive: nature’s most efficient shape, now miniaturised for the ear. Ruth hand-sculpts each tiny pendant from ceramic clay, offering a choice of two moods:
-
Teal – A deep, saturated blue-green with a soft matte or satin finish. Evokes twilight meadows and hidden gardens.
-
Black – Velvety, charcoal-dark, and absorbing. Modern, grounding, and quietly dramatic.
Each hexagon measures approximately 10–12mm across—small enough to feel delicate, substantial enough to hold its presence. Over the coloured surface, Ruth applies a single 24-carat gold accent: perhaps a fine line across one face, a gilded corner, or a tiny gold dot at the centre. This restrained flash of precious metal elevates the ceramic without overpowering it.
Dangling beside each hexagon—or suspended just below it on a tiny jump ring—is a brass bee charm, cut from solid brass sheet. Approximately 6–8mm long, each bee carries subtle wing and body detailing. The brass arrives with a gentle warmth, deepening over time into a natural patina that echoes the ageing of a real hive.
All of this hangs from lightweight gold fill hoops (approximately 15–20mm diameter), which tie together the gold accent and brass tones seamlessly. Because each hexagon is hand-shaped and each gold detail hand-painted, slight variations are not flaws—they are signatures of Irish craft.
Wear these earrings as a tribute to nature’s architects, to quiet industry, or simply to the joy of tiny, beautiful things that move when you do.
