There’s not too many people in Ireland who have’nt descended upon Laois in early Autumn for the Electric Picnic festival. From mucky boots to making best mates with the campers beside you, it’s almost an Irish tradition at this stage. For those who don’t go for a festival, let us tell you that Laois has plenty to keep you occupied. Take in the views atop the mystical Slieve Bloom mountains or cycle through the many trails in the beautiful countryside. If you are in the mood for all things historical, you can visit the Rock of Dunamase or Emo Courthouse.And thank you Laois for giving us some serious talent. The Culinary Queen that is Darina Allen was born in Laois as was the ridiculously talented actor, Robert Sheehan. Some spot!
