Description
Six small spheres, one elegant line. Handcrafted in Ireland by Ruth at DANU Ceramics, this brass bead bar necklace is a study in restraint, rhythm, and the beauty of repetition. Six tiny handmade brass beads are evenly spaced along a slender metal bar, suspended from a delicate chain—minimalist jewellery with a distinctly artisanal soul.
Unlike mass-produced brass beads that are cast from identical molds, each of these six beads is hand-formed from solid brass. Using traditional metal smithing techniques, she cuts, shapes, files, and polishes every tiny sphere—sometimes texturing the surface with a hammer, sometimes leaving it smoothly burnished. The result is a set of beads that are sisters, not twins: each has its own subtle character, its own slight variation in size, finish, or warmth.
The beads are threaded or soldered onto a horizontal bar (approximately 35–45mm long), creating a clean, architectural line across the collarbone. This bar becomes the necklace’s focal point—a tiny shelf of precious metal holding six perfect spheres in place. The spacing between each bead is intentional: close enough to feel cohesive, open enough to catch light between them.
The necklace is finished on a gold fill or fine brass chain (choose your preferred length, typically 16–18 inches), with a small clasp that keeps the design secure. As the brass ages naturally, it will develop a warm, deep patina—a living finish that records your wearing of it. If you prefer a bright shine, a quick polish returns its original glow.
Because each bead is handmade, no two necklaces are identical. Ruth’s gentle variations in bead size, spacing, and surface texture ensure that your piece is entirely one of a kind. Wear it alone as a quiet statement, or layer it with other chains for a collected look.
