Traditional Irish music is rooted in the history of Ireland, but its branches have spread all over the world along with the Irish diaspora. Spink Comhaltas, based in County Laois, is just one of the many branches of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, an organisation whose aim is to spread this music to as wide an audience through the provision of music lessons toall ages and abilities.
Every song, tune and dance played has a story, and the same is true of the various volunteers who founded and led Spink Comhaltas since its foundation in 1983. This book has been published to celebrate the 40th anniverday of the foundation of this branch, it is the story of those people, significant events, and memories along with a selection of photographs marking some of these people and events.
